- Hello, I would like to get pregnant again. I already have a baby girl 2 1/2 years. ALthough I am on medication. I take risperdal injection 2mg the lowest dose in Sweden. I also take picamilon, oxiracetam and alpha-GPC so I don`t have any significant sideeffects from the risperdal medication. Now I would like to get pregnant again because when I take all these smartdrugs I feel strong and I wonder is it possible to at least take picamilon during pregnancy. What medication do you recommend instead of risperdal? I think it is possible to get pregnant with that because I have seen that women all over the world have been pregnant with the injection so it is possible. However my main question is if it is ipossible to take smrtdrugs during pregnancy? especially the picamilon? since it makes me able to take good care and work hard. I am a teacher also. Best regards, Helena
Answer: I do not know of ant studies done on pregnancy with these medications. I would think that piracetam would be OK, but again, with no studies to back that up, it is hard to recommend. Check with your OB/GYN before trying to get pregnant. JJP 6/11/08

- I have silicone drops in my upper lip from a mistaken injection (supposed to be collagen). I understand the body encapsulates the silicone w/collagen which keeps the silcone drops in place. I have researched an enzyme called Serrapeptase which is said to help rid the body of internal scar tissue as well as cysts & other conditions. Do you think it would affect the collagen/scar tissue that encapsulates the silicone drops? I do not want to free up the silicone drops. Thanks.
Answer: I think the effect on the scar tissue will be small to none and will have no effect on the silicone itself at all. JG 5.12.08

- Hi, I was writing because I`m about to start Birth Control Pills again. My main focus is an anti-aging regimen, I`m pretty good at the daily routine of skin care, but not sure if I might be taking too much vitamins, herbs, etc. I initially started taking Birth Control Pills when I was 23 stopped when I was about 26. I`m now 28. When I was originally taking the BC pills, I was not taking a multivitamin, herbs, etc. I`ve aged in my face quite a bit, and I think its linked to the Birth Control Pills. I don`t smoke and I barely drink. I try to drink a ton of water everyday and the following is what I`m taking on a daily basis..In the Morning I take Womens Ultra Mega Active Multi-Vitamin plus a green tea extract at 315 mg, Vitamin C-Absoric Acid in a chewable-500mg, Fish Oil 1,000mg-Epa is 180mg and DHA is 120mg, Ginko Biloba sometimes, and had a one breakout of cold sores on my lips in December time frame for the first time, freaked me out so take a L-Lysine tablet at 1,000mg every other day. At night I take Ultra Mega Green Multivitamin, a Multi-Mushroom tablet which the formula includes Maitake,Reishi, and Shitake Mushrooms. So my question is to you I take most of this as a preventive regimen to fight aging-Do you feel that its overkill? If so what should I eliminate? Also I read somewhere that if you are taking birth control pills you should also be taking COQ10 and Alpha Lipoic Acid-Do you think I should add these two supplements and if so what should dosing be and how many milligrams? Also I don`t recall how long its been going on, but I seem to be having problems with speech lately, for some reason have begun to kind of stutter alot, don`t know if one of the vitamins may be doing this, i don`t recall having this problem before taking them, they are all from GNC so don`t think its a quality issue, thanks so much for your insight
Answer: I am not aware of any interactions with Co Q-10 or ALA with BCP`s. Your vitamin regimen sounds fine to me. I do not think that any of the vitamins are causing your stuttering, but it is a possibility. Hope this helps. JJP 1/28/08
- I`m starting to drink an energy drink called XS gear it has 4900% of vitamin B12, 300% vit.B6, 100% B5, 100% B3, and with vit. A, C, calcium, iron, cholesterol, carbs, sugar & protein is 0%, is this ok to have so much vitamins in your system especially the B12, and is it healthy to drink this drink?
Answer: the high doses appear to be the B vitamins that are water soluble so if you take too much they just go out in your urine, so no problem that I can see. JG 1.16.08
- I think Im gona pass with the fish oil...I have a B-complex expired 11/06. Should I get a new one? Im sorry so many questions!!

- Which vitamins should i use to have thick and lustrous hair? Please suggest one which is the best.
Answer: I do not think any one or two vitamins will accomplish this. You should supplement with a good multi, antioxidants and at least 4 grams of fish oil a day. In combination this can help keep the hair thick and lustrous. That is unless you have a hormonal issue effecting your hair. JJP 12/26/07
- I am 40, could you suggest some vitamins taken for good skin?

- I read your posts regarding endermologie and velasmooth. I don`t have a serious cellulite problem but rather a forming cellulite problem, I think, since my main problem is skin cold and sometimes even painful to the touch in my butt and tights and if I squeeze my butt or move in certain ways, you can see the dimples. I still think, though, that my main problem still is a circulatory one (poor circulation) in the area and the feeling of heavy legs when the weather is hot or that I have been up many hours in a row. 1) Do you think what`s called lymphatic drainage can improve my situation? I assume it will require regular treatments, but does it help? 2) Is centella asiatica (horse chestnut, I think?), aesculum hippocastanum and herbs of the like taken as supplements and/or used as creams in the area minimally good for this problem?
Answer: I think what you suggest is worth a try. JG 10.2.07

- Hi Dr. Pierce, this is your niece in Auburn NY. How are you? I know you are preparing for a visit with your Mom, can you fill me in with the planned activities? Also, as you know, I just had surgery to remove a fallopian tube. I now have none. I have one ovary and uterus left. I also am being treated for a fractured disk (I can`t remember which one, but it is located at the base of the spine) My question is, it may be time for me to start some calcium supplements. Would you recommend Boniva? Please let me know when you can. All my love, Kim
Answer: Calcium Citrate would be one of the best calcium supplements. Make sure to use Vitamine D as well. 500 iu should do well. Also bioidentical hormone replacement will provide you the proper balance to maintain healthy bones. Thanks for the question. JJP 8/16/07
- Are sulfa drugs & sulphur drugs in the same family? Along time ago I had a rash from a sulfa drug. I want to take MSM, but it has sulphur in it. I`m a little afraid to take it now. What do you recommend? Thank you
Answer: According to the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database, there is no association with Sulfa drug allergy and MSM. I suggest trying a small dose, maybe 250 mg, and see if a rash develops, if it does than stop immediately. JJP 7/31/07
- I have pigmentation and freckles which I have undergone an IPL (intense pulse light) treatment which I was told would lighten the pigmentation but not get rid of the freckles. Would any peel help to get rid of freckles? I have heard of an injection of vitamin c for this, what is your opinion on the effectivness?
Answer: the Vitamin C injections will not help and any peel like a deep TCA peel might take the freckles off but with any sun exposure they wil all come back. JG 7.16.07

- I am considering having facial surgery, likely with Dr. Garcia. However, in pre-reading through the site, I noticed that there was mention of things to avoid before surgery and things to take after surgery. Could you please specifically indentify things to avoid before surgery and also indicate specific names of the vitamins , herbs, etc to take after surgery.
Answer: there is a long lost of over the counter supplements and medications that can slow the healing and cause excess bleeding, when we see you in consultaon we can give the list to you, unfortuantely it is over 80 products so too many to list here. JG 5.12.07
- Dr. Garcia, I am writing you from New York (Hamptons). I was wondering what you think I could do or take to help improve my sudden loss of skin elasticity. I was 122lbs last year but stopped smoking in January and now am up to 140lbs! I am not sure if the smoking has anything to do with it because I started gaining before that. I had my thyroid checked, its supposedly fine. Also, at the same time Ive developed cellulite which I never had before! I can still where a size 4 but am concerned about the rapid loss of skin tone. It is not so much on my face as it is on my body. I am 52 years old, my kids said that Ive been lucky this far and shouldnt complain now. I was wondering if you can suggest something for the jiggly, saggy body skin.
Answer: well I think it is all of a sudden in its apperance but what has caused it was years in the making, weight gain and smoking certainly over the years have affected it, the effects of smoking do not show up right away. I think in general just watching for weight fluctuations and avoiding smoke and sun are the best for now. JG 5.2.07

- MISTAKE: In the following, only 400mg of the calcium are from supplements. The rest is from food, mainly milk. FOR YOUR WRITER who said her nails are so weak, they are almost paper thin and split/crack all the time. That was me for years; I could easily bend the eight on my fingers. Then I increased my calcium citrate and magnesium citrate to 1600mg each per day and they are healthy and look nice. At one point I ran out and didn`t get around to rebuying them and the nails stopped growing. Now I am back to normal.
Answer: thank you for the clarification. JG 2.16.07

- What is your opinion on supplements that are supposed to be especially formulated for the skin? A Dr. Lark has one that includes an ingredient that helps collagen formation and antioxidants, etc. It is not cheap but if it helps ... Also, what does the DMAE in your skin cream do for the skin?
Answer: as to supplements for the skin, I like Omega 3 fish oils, CoQ 10. Vitmain C and E, alpha lipoic acid, grape seed extract. DMAE is a short for dimethylaminoethanol, a naturally occurring substance that facilitates the synthesis of a neurotransmitter acetylcholine. DMAE is a compound found in high levels in anchovies and sardines. Small amounts of it are also naturally produced in the human brain. An intriguing finding in some DMAE studies was that it reduced the accumulation of lipofuscin deposits inside cells. Lipofuscin is a cellular pigment consisting of aggregated chunks of molecular waste. It tends to occur in the cells of older people. It is likely that lipofuscin is not simply a byproduct of aging but also contributes to the aging process. Neurons, heart and skin of older people usually contain particularly large amounts of lipofuscin. It has been demonstrated that DMAE causes some degree of skin tightening. However, despite speculation it remains unclear how DMAE firms the skin -- whether by stabilizing the membranes, boosting acetylcholine, reducing lipofuscin deposits or none of the above. Whatever the mechanism, the effect of DMAE is often noticeable. Besides, even though DMAE can`t fully reverse the existing facial sag, it may reduce its further progression. Some people report a cumulative effect with continued use of DMAE. JG 2.8.07

- Hey Dr.Garcia, I am currently taking a commercial saw palmetto supplement to combat my hairloss and the daily amount per serving is 1500mg. I have taken this for about 1 month and have noticed massive amounts of hair shedding. I have read many online sources and it says this may be expected. My question is will this shedded hair grow back even if I stop taking the saw palmetto? My hair is already thin and losing such a huge amount has greatly decreased my hair density and my scalp is now visible. what is your recommendation?
Answer: I would stop it, acute hair loss like that which is distinct and seperate from normal hair loss usually comes back. JG 1.25.07
- Hi!! It is said that BioSil increases collagen concentration in the skin. Do you think this is true? Thanks!
Answer: sorry but no. JG 1.9.07
- Hi Dr Garcia, what do you think of the conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) as a supplement? Can it help increase the burning of fat? Thanks.

- Dr. GArcia, Thanks you for ansering my question about vitamin supplementation. You reccomended half in the AM, half in the PM. Does that mean half dose of each vitamin? Or half of the vits? If so, are some better in the AM and some better in the PM? Thanks again for your time.
Answer: yes, half of the dose of each. I like the Omegas a night as they sometimes give you a fishy taste on your breath. The others do not matter much as to when. JG 12.2.06
- I have begun vitamin supplementation to augment my skincare routine. The Vits are from GNC, a total of 9 every AM (Multi w/ B-complex,ALA, DMAE,C, C ester, Biotin, Omega fish oil, Co-Q10, vitamin E). Here is my question: Can my body really absorb all this? Best absorbed on an empty stomach, or with a meal? All at once, or spaced throughout the day?
Answer: yes, the body can absorb all of them and an empty stomach in some people leads to a little gas so I think taking it with food is good and does not affect absorption. I prefer to split them half in the am and the other at night. JG 12.2.06
- According to research reported by AOR, (Advanced Orthomolecular Research ), I`ve urged my parents to go on two products that claim to have among the best anti-aging research done on them. Do you approve of these? The main one is this: AGE-Amadori. DISCUSSION: The core of AGE Amadori is two unique B vitamins: the world’s first pharmaceutical-grade‡ Pyridox-amine, a form of vitamin B6 (not the common pyridoxine form), and Benfotiamine, an extremely well absorbed and utilized form of vitamin B1. These nutrients are Amadorins, powerful “late-phase” inhibitors of the formation of Advanced Glycation Endproducts (AGEs). The other is R(+)-Lipoic acid. Thank you for your opinion.
Answer: I think they are good options, yes. JG 12.14.06
- Hi Dr Garcia, What is your opinion of the antioxidant-Prolandim? Thank you.
Answer: I have never used it so I really cannot say much, sorry. JG 11.15.06

- Dr. Garcia- I purchased the Oil of Olay Beauty/Wellness beauty supplement and it contains (multi-vitamin with 120mg Vitamin C, 460mg of Vitamin E, 50 mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid, 15mg of Coenzyne Q-10, 4 mg of Vitamin B6, 50 mg of Green Tea Leaf Extract and 250mcg of Lutein). Are those high enough doses for my skin and can I add additional supplements without a danger of overdosing? I wanted to add Omega Fish Oils and Grape Seed Extract based on what I am reading on your website. Is that everything? Thank you so much!!
Answer: I am afraid all of the ingredients in the ones you bought are 2-4 times too low. JG 10.29.06
- Dr. Garcia- I was wanting to begin taking some supplements that help with anti-aging. I know there are many different brands (Jan Marini, Santica, Oil of Olay, etc.). What do you think of taking such supplements and what are the main ingredients I should look for? Thank you.
Answer: your question is very broad and I am afrid there is not one or two single supplements I can recommend as there are many and it varies depending on your needs. If I had to pick one I would say Omega 3 Oils. JG 10.29.06
- Dr Garcia, with all the sites that claim all natural, all this, the best, which site do you recommed that sells honest products like Evening Primrose Oil(No Capsules) just the oil itself, and also Squalene oil? I`m overwhelmed with all these sites, cannot tell which is is phony and which one is legit anymore. thanks Raquel

- recently began taking several vitamin supplements and have noticed I am a lot happier and wake up more refreshed. Do vitamins really affect you mentally and will taking vitamin e, vitamin a, multi-vitamin, green tea extract, b-12, q 10, and calcium help prevent wrinkles as well. I`m only 22 and am trying to slow down the aging process.
Answer: I am afraid so, vitamins are very importtant, be glad you figured it out early. JG 10.3.06
- Just one more question: What is your opinion on trying Hoodia based products to help lose weight? the one I would like to try is ENVY. Thank you very much for all your anticipated assistance.
Answer: well, there are no reports of any large size in humans and there is a lot of fake Hoodia being sold so it is kind of hit and miss. JG 9.16.06
- Two questions. Is it safe to take GH3 with Mega Women vitamins? There is a website called Tierra Mega Nutrients International that sells it. They say it is exactly the same as the Romanian formula. Would it be OK to order from them? I live in TN so can't come to Vegas to see you, but have ordered other products from you. Thx!
Answer: I think you can take it but as to the effectiveness of oral GH3, I am not sure how effective it will be compared to the injectable form. JG 7.17.06

- Hello, What do you think of low Ferritin levels causing hair loss and I have read it's the number one cause of hair loss in women. i got mine checked for the first time and it was at the low end being 12.1 ng/ml. But my TIBC was on the high side being 457 ug/dl. What do you suggest since I have a lot of hair loss. Do I need to increse the Ferritin level and how can I do that. Thanks a bunch

Answer: 10%. JG 2.26.06
- Hi Dr Garcia, What do you think of Secretagogue Gold -an HGH -stimulating amino acid supplement? Any truth to its anti-aging claims? Thx.
Answer: I do not belive that most of the oral secretagogues for HGH work. They are based upon studies where oral products were administered but these products sold do not even have a fraction of the amount that was shown to be effective, and that dose that was effective had a large incidence of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Save your money. JG 2.23.06
- does Women's Vitadil 2A cause the increase or decrease of insulin? is it dangerous for diabetic people?

- HI DR. GARCIA I WROTE YOU A PREVIOUS QUESTION BUT HAVE SOME MORE. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HYDRACELL 2 AND BIOCELL COLLAGEN TYPE 2 THAT I SEE IN COLLAGEN BASED VITAMINS. WHICH IS BETTER TO TAKE? WHICH WILL GIVE THE BEST BENEFITS FOR THE SKIN? IS DMAE SAFE TO TAKE AS WELL. HOW MUCH DMAE DAILY GIVES THE BEST BENEFITS FOR THE SKIN? IS 150MG A DAY OK OR 300MG BENEFICIAL TO ADD WITH MY DAILY REGIMAN OF HA COLLAGEN AND ANTIOXIDENTS? CAN VITAMINS BE TAKEN FOREVER OR DOES THE BODY BUILD A TOLERANCE TO VITAMINS AFTER A WHILE? IS IT GOOD TO TAKE CONTIUOSLY YOUR VITAMIN REGIMAN FOR 2 MTHS AND THEN STOP THE REGIMAN FOR A WEEK AND THEN START AGAIN SO THE VITAMINS CAN BE REABSORBED IN THE BODY? THANK YOU SO MUCH I JUST HAD SO MANY QUESTIONS ALL AT ONCE THAT IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO ASK. THANKS DR.!!
Answer: not much difference I feel, and not much effect either. DMAE is OK to take orally. Everyone's needs for oral DMAE will differ but I would start at about 150mg. The body does not build a tolerance to vitamins. There is no sense in stopping and then restarting the vitamins. JG 1.6.06
- what supplement are good for him so thhey dont go too bad. the doctor i went to said its growth and there was nothing i could do to control it. i have read about see clearly methos and visison training programs similar to that. i am 45 and dont even wear any glasses for support. i feel awful

- Hi Dr. Garcia, I currently take a women's multivitamin, an Omega 3 fish oil supplement. Alpha Lipoic acid, Vit C, Vit E., ProMensil(phytoestrogen),some amino acids and I was considering taking COQ10.
Answer: I think its a great addition to your regimin. JG 11.01.05
- Hi Dr.Garcia, I currently take a daily Women's multivitamin, Vit C, Vit E, Alpha Lipoic acid, an Omega 3 Fish oil supplement and Amino acids. I was also considering taking COQ10. Do you think this is overkill? I am a healthy 46 year old. (I also take Promensil for phytoestrogens).Looking for the best anti-aging supplements as well as longevity and continued good health. Thanks-I trust your advice.
Answer: I think CoQ 10 is a great supplement and would add it to your regimen. 30-60mg in a gel cap, higher does if you have high blood pressure or hardening of the arteries and also when you have a cold or if you are on cholesterol lowering drugs. JG 11.01.05
- I am use 5 different supplments because I read they were all very good for anti-aging/hair and skin: Murad Youth builder, Alpha Lipoic Acid,DMAE supplment, Bioti and CoQ-10. I use a different one every day. My question is - should I be taking the same one for weeks at a time so it will get into my system, or is alternating one every day just as effective?
Answer: if they are oral supplements, take them all every day, if they are creams you can alternate them all between day and night applications. JG 10.21.05
- I was taking fenugreek and wild yam and noticed my hair thinned out a little (6months) could it be from these herbs? I have recently quit taking them as I thought they increased PMS.
Answer: Have never heard of those herbs causing that problem. If you were taking wild yam for menopause I will say that hair loss in females is very common due to progesterone deficiency and wild yam does not fix it. JG 10.17.05
- Hi Dr. Garcia-thank you for the response about Yasmin. If I discontinue this pill, will my hair growth return to normal? Thank you. Also, I ordered your DMAE eye cream-I am excited to check it out!
Answer: possibly but it will take a few months as hair grows slowly. Best of luck with the DMAE cream, I think you will like it, and for the hair we use a product called ScalpMed, available at www.ScalpMed.com, very good success with it in men and women for all different causes of hair loss. JG 10.16.05

- So, is Alpha-Lipolic acid a good anti-aging regimen?

- Hi Dr. Garcia, what do you think of supplements such as BioSil (contains silicon) or Age Less, which contains DMAE & L-camisone? They both claim to help aging skin. Are they usually false claims? If so, is there any worthwhile supplement that you would recommend for aging skin (in combination with using topical products)? Thank you.
Answer: I think Bio-Sil is a waste of money. As to oral intake of DMAE and L-carnosine do help but the DMAE works better for the skin if applied directly to the skin as only about 5% of what you take by mouth gets to the skin. I also think Vit C, Vit E and omega fish oils also help. JG 10.1.05
- What do you think of herbal breast enlargement?
Answer: waste of money. JG 9.20.05
- How much Alpha Lipoic acid would you reccomend daily?

- I asked the question about vitamins, are you supposed to take a vitamin and vitamin D and Folate seperate times of the day?
Answer: They can all be taken at the same time. JG 9.10.05
- Is there is multi vitamin that has enough recommended vitamin d and folate.
Answer: They usually do not have what I would recommend as they are trying to service a wide number of patients and it may be easier for you to take a litle more of the folate and Vitmain D on the side. JG 9.1.05
- Hi Dr. Garcia, I recently read about the importance of amino acids for improving skin elasticity and collagen production. Is it OK to take Lysine, Arginine and Glutamine at the same time? If not, is one amino acid better than others? Thank you.
Answer: It is OK to take those together, no problem. JG 8.29.05
- What do you think of the supplement Protandim?
Answer: There is some preliminary evidence that looks promising. JG 8.2.05
- Dear Dr Garcia, In a previous post I asked you if the supplement GABA was of any use in restoring the depletion of GABA by benzodiazepines. My concern was that GABA supplements have difficulty crossing the blood-brain barrier; you replied that it could, but I have reviewed research from other scientists and the overwhelming consensus is that GABA supplements do not cross the barrier, and are therefore useless. I have since found out about a Russian supplement called Picamilon, which DOES cross the blood brain barrier very effectively. The problem is, Picamilon is a form of Niacin, and as I take Gerovital H3 (which is contraindicated with Niacin) Im not sure if I can take it. What is your opinion on this? The last thing I want to stop working is the GH3, so please bear that in mind in your reply. All these contraindications - they are so confusing!
Answer: I have seen positive results with oral GABA prodcust in my patients and I also believe Picamilon is another option, but there are no studies to tell how much affect the niacin would have on the Gerovital. Tough call. JG 7.25.05
- What are the ingrediants in your eye booster cream (I am allergic to certain ingrediants)? and what does it claim to do? what is it best for?
Answer: it has Vitamin C and DMAE and it should help reduce the wrinkles. JG 7.24.05
- What can I do about sun damage to my left hand that causes easing bruising and bleeding of the veins in that hand??? My right hand takes trama well, but my left hand is forever bleeding under the skin. Is there something I can do to strengthen those veins?
Answer: You can try some topical Vitamin K and bioflavinoids available at a good health food store. It is the elastin and collagen which has been damaged and tears with minimal trauma. JG 4.25.05
- What are the best vitamins and minerals to take for anti-aging effects? Also, I really appreciate that you have this website- it's so helpful.

Answer: It is a Vitanin A derivative that irritates the skin, originally developed to treat acne, is also used to create new collagen and improve facial wrinkles. JG 4.22.05

- I am only 28 and my eyes look hollow and i have saggy skin under my eyes. i also think that the skin around my mouth is saggy too. Is this normal at my age and do you have any non surgical suggestions?
Answer: It is uncommon in a person your age. I would suggest avoiding the sun, no smoking and Retin-A for those area, along with Vitamin C and DMAE creams. JG 4.21.05
- Hi, I am the 22 year old who asked about the festoons. I am on medication for my allergies, but I was wondering if an eye cream or gel would help as well? Also, I was wondering if smoking aggravated the condition. My mother is a heavy smoker and has been smoking since her early teens. While I smoked off and on for a bit in my teens and earlier 20s, I have quit and lead a very healthy lifestyle. Will my nonsmoking and healthy eating and excersising help at all? Please recommend an eye cream/gel if you can as well. Thanks so much!
Answer: Smoking does aggravate the problem. As to creams, I feel DMAE and Vitamin C are good choices. Exercise will have no effect on the problem I am afraid. As to an eye cream I would suggest you try our eye booster cream available on this website under the skin care section. JG 4.19.05
- I am beginning to notice a thinning of the skin around lower eyelids causing dark shadows. What are causing these shadows and what do you recommend. You seem to be against fillers in that area. How about Sculptra?
Answer: Shadows are from the skin thinning and I suggets topical Retin-A, Vitamin C and DMAE. I think Sculptra would be a mistake into the eyelid skin. JG 4.18.05
- CAN I MIX VIT C SERUN AND VIT B5 INTO MY FACE CREAM
Answer: I would put them on one at a time rather than mix them together before you apply them. JG 3.29.05
- I was told to start taking prenatal vitamins to help my hair and nails grow. I am not pregnant, and was wondering if it was still safe to take them. By taking them, will it increase my chances of getting pregnant?
Answer: It is certainly safe, but doubtful those will help. Protein intake is important for hair and nails, so that is a better solution. Prenatal vitamins will not increase your chances of getting pregnant, they just have higher amounts of certain vitamins that have been found to be needed for a normal baby to develop. JG 3.7.05
- I had my chin improved by an injectable yesterday. I'm very pleased with the result but I have some bruising that I'd like to get rid of asap. I'm having photos taken on Thursday. Is there anything you can recommend to help the condition with super fast results? Christina 9 Feb '05
Answer: Arnica Montana gel and sublingual tablets, available in a good health food store, taken 4 times a day. Some warm packs also to help bring blood flow to the area to alleviate the bruising. Best of luck with the photos! JG 2.9.05
- Dr. Garcia, is the DMAE cream you have ok to use for a very acne prone skin? I'm in my late 30's, Retin A is too drying and shows more wrinkles, Vitamin C-16% strength makes me break out! I don't know what to use for anti-aging, to give moisture to skin, but also keep the acne away... would DMAE cream help? if so, do you have a number that I can call to order it? what do you think of Vitamin C -16% cream just around the eyes?
Answer: I think our DMAE cream would be a good choice for you and it has Vitamin C but only 10%, along with alpha lipoic acid. JG 1.23.05
- Hi, I'm sure you're familiar with the suppliment Chromium picolinate 200mcg. Well I take this on a daily basis, now I'm pregnant and am wondering if I can still take it along with my prenatal vitamins. I take the chromium to control sugar craving and avoid blood sugar levels dropping too much. Have you heard of any contra-indications for this suppliment?
Answer: I have never heard of any contraindications to Chromium at the dose you are speaking of. It is a needed micronutrient and should not cause any problems for you, in fact, it should/could help you. JG 1.3.05
- What creams do you recommend for sagging aound the mouth area.
Answer: Creams will help the tiny wrinkles around the mouth, those creams are things like Retin-A or Vitamin C creams, but there is no cream that will lift sagging skin. JG 12.5.04
- Dr. Tell me what supplements do you recommend for anti aging and also do wrinkle creams work? Thank You
Answer: wrinkle creams do work, as to which supplements I suggest, I feel a good multivitamin without iron, omega 3 fish oils, Indole-3-carbinol, N-acetyl cysteine, Acetyl L-carnitine, green tea, B6,B12, and folate are a good place to start
- I have been using Gerovital H3 for its health benefits, but am not sure whether the reformulated version (Aslavital) will be a better choice. Gerovital contains Metabisulphite, which Aslavital does not, while Aslavital contains Pyridoxine, which I already use in a multivitamin supplement. Do you know the differences between the effects of these two products, and which one would be most advisable t
Answer: The metabisulphite is a preservative so it is more stable over a longer period of time. As to the pyridoxine, it is water soluble, so oral intake should suffice. I cannot tell you though about the newer version being more or less effective than the original. You may end up having to try them and compare for yourself. JG 9.15.04
- What is he very best cream and vitamins for wrinkles, sagging and lines for your skin?
Answer: well, I feel the ones we sell in our office that I formulated are the best, in terms of creams. In terms of vitamins, I prefer companies that have pharmaceutical strength. I like Vit E, Vit C, and Omega 3 fish oils the best
- Hello Dr. Garcia: I am soon to be having some surgery on the other side of your practice (smile). My Doctor (ahem) has indicated that I must quit smoking. Do you offer anything that will assist in that process and or reverse some of the damage smoking has caused all these years? Also my husband has Alzheimer's in his family and I am wondering if those smart drugs can be used prophylacticly?
Answer: Smart drugs were used in Europe to prolong the time before Alzheimers started, so the answer would be yes. As to smoking cessation, we presently do not offer any treatemnts, and we do recommend smoking be stopped prior to surgery. Primary care doctors are versed in smoking management. The use of the patch helps but the patch has nicotine so one must be off of that also prior to surgery too
