  • Hello Dr.Pierce, I was recently diagnosed with Crohn`s. I have read that studies have shown that HGH and or Test treatment may be effective for treating Crohn`s. Would you please share your thoughts. Thank you

Answer:  I have not heard of these studies, but it stands to reason as these compounds can help with inflamation. JJP 8/02/08

  • This question is not so much about surgery more as about prevention. I was wondering what your opinion is regarding Human Growth Hormone enhancers touted to help prevent wrinkles, fight signs of aging, etc? To good to be true? or something to add to my morning vitamin regiment? Thank you for your time:)

Answer:  sorry, they are a waste, ther are no HGH enhancers that work. JG 7.17.08

  • Hi Dr Garcia..It was not from HRT that caused this problem..it was something i had told about once in the past..where my medications were mixed up with my husbands..i ended up taking a very high dosage of winstrol without knowing for 2 weeks..This caused many problems as i have explained to you in the past (masculine changes in body and face, as well as shoulder tendonitis, subluxations and very loose ligaments (may need surgery for that as well),and practically throughout my whole body..and i have recently had a facelift which didnt do much..Other areas still need to be lifted but i can wait for those b/c its not as visible as my face and can be covered.. I have spoken to many people on the bodybuilding/fitness industry who have concluded this and said the only thing that would help the malformed collagen would be HGH..i also found an article showing similar results.. I found other women and men who have had the same problem with their collagen after the stanazol (winstrol) or some other form of high testosterone....but most women have never even taken the doses i took , even those big female bodybuilders! I have tried many creams, lasers ,and even surgery..but i think the problem is that collagen is a connective tissue located almost everywhere, besides just the dermis of the skin, muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc I am really young and this was a very devastating traumatic event for me ..and wish somehow i can find a way to reverse this..at least the collagen aspect..I need to increase the strength , integrity, quality, and maybe the turn-over as well..If there is anything you know that can help, I would really appreciate it..I have sent you pictures in the past but have not received replies..I live in NY..i do not think its necessary to see me , just know im telling the truth and its not something i am exaggerating or misperceiving..It very serious and i was nearly suicidal over it..especially after the results of the major facelift did not do what I expected or was told i was to expect. Thank you

Answer:  well, it is illegal to prescribe HGH for that, if you are tested and found to be deficient in HGH, then you can be treated for adult onset HGH deficienty, that is the only legal way to get it. Please send the photos to drgarcia@lvcosmeticsurgery.com because I have not received them. JG 5.29.08

  • ive had a severe problem due to a hormone i was taking about a year ago which greatly increased the production of malformed, weak non-cross linked collagen..I did also recently have a mid face lift but do not feel like it helped..I was wondering if a mild dose of HGH or some natural form of it woould increase healthy collagen and turnover? Ive trying many other things before and spoken to many different doctors..but my latest research indicates that thats the only thing that could help..However , i am a very young female (30) who is also scared of gaining anymore muscle after my experience..CAn u tell me realistically if i am on the right track here? THANK YOU!!!!

Answer:  a short course of HGH is not indicated and will not help long term, I have never heard of hormone replacement causing loss of collagen cross-linking though. I am curious how that diagnosis was made.I can also tell you that in most cases, HGH will not cause an increase in muslce mass unless other things are done and taken at the same time. I really cannot give you much advice without seeing you in person in terms of what would be the best for you though. JG 5.29.08

  • What do you think of a product called GenF20-HGH-Releaser?

  • do you know any info about viapal hgh j and arginox plus what would you reccomend about vimax penis enlargment pills do they work can you tell me if viapal hgh j and arginox have any l arginine in them

    Answer:

  • hi doctor Pierce,I recently was seen by a dr who started me on regime of bioidentical hormones progesterone, testosterone cream, dhea and vitamins omega oil caps and hgh.my question is the growth hormone he prescribed for me is Tev Tropin 5mg vial/15 ml after reconstitution I inject 10U/1iu my concern is from what i have recently read about tev tropin is that it is indicated for children I have not read indications for adult onset growth hormone def(.by the way Im a 49 yr old female in perimenopause) have you used tev tropin or think it good for adult onset def I trust your opinion and knowledge and I hope I have not been taken advantage of I would appreciate any help or info you could give me thanks

Answer:  We had used Tev Tropin in the past. We stopped using it because we found that it was not indicated for Adult Onset Growth Hormone Deficiency. This was not because it did not work. It was more due to the fact that legally using it in this manner could be considered off label and by law, hGH can not be used off label. However Growth hormone is growth hormone and it does not matter what company makes it, it will all have the same effect. I do not believe one brand is better than the other. JJP 3/18/08

  • hi doc i have got a overmasterbation problem which has cause a lot of problems such as when ever i pull my foreskin down i see blue veins on my penis thats when i pull the foreskin down i have asked dr nk lin and he said its all due to overmasturbation i have done it for several years he said you need viapal hgh j arginox and toxica plus fish oil 1000mg per meal to help are these blue veins a sign of damaged valve in my penis

  • I am interested in Testosterone or HGH replacement, but I would like to know if there are any negative or positive effects of either on my penis. growth, shrinkage, etc. Please reply.

Answer:  Testosterone is the hormone responsible for penis growth during puberty. It may have some effect on growth after that time. The clitorus of females is derived from the same embrionic tissue as the male penis. When females use high doses of testosterone or derivitives the experience growth of that tissue (clitoromegaly). The testicles may shrink (atrophy) if the dose is too high for you and shuts down your own production of testosterone. If this happens you should inform your medical provider so that appropriate measures can be taken. JJP 1/24/08

  • Hello I`m a 44 year old women and have been reading alot about HGH...I started taking a spray form called renewal for women by forever young, is it safe if you haven`t seen a doctor to determine if you are HGH deficent?

Answer:  It is probably safe, and also, probably ineffective. If it is not human growth hormone or growth hormone releasing hormone it most likely does not work. There are a lot of natrual products out there that claim to increase growth hormone, unfortunately none have reliable data to back up the claims. Some have been shown in limited studies to increase levels a bit. Even if they did work, your body has an inherent mechanism in place to prevent too much hGH from being produced. Unless there is a disease state that secretes the hormone unchecked. JJP 1/10/08

  • I`m interested in Growth Hormone and Testosterone therapy. Can I get my blood work done through you guys or do I have to go elsewhere to have it done?

  • im a 38 yr old male and ive been researching hgh .i live in henderson and im really interested in recieving treatment .my main concerns are how long do you take this for ,ie in cycles for a certain number of weeks and what are the typical costs involved .also is it possible for this to stimulate growth of somthing you dont want say a benign tumor,or worse.

Answer:  an in office consultation would be nice to determine needs and expectations, we use HGH for replacement only in deficient patients, not for any other purposes and since it is being used for that we do not cycle on and off as if someone is deficient, they need it all the time, fees will vary depending on dose required for treatment. Although there are always concerns about tumor growth, there are no documented studies in over 20 years showing this to be clinically significant, please feel free to call the office for an appointment to evaluate your needs. • What can you tell me about Trans-d Tropin? I have read the clinical study adn noticed many longevity/anti-aging centers carry it. Sounds too good and inexpensive to be true!

Answer:  As far as I know, there is NO oral or transdermal preparations that truly effect hGH release approved by the FDA. There are a ton of products sold at health food stores that claim to do this. The supplement industry is not under the scrutiny of the FDA (as of yet) and therefore they can make claims as to products effects that are untrue. I have seen the ONE study that Trans-d Tropin produced and it sounds promising. I can not speak to its true efficacy. There is one product approved by the FDA as a Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone, Somatorelin.JJP 8/1/07

  • I have been on 1 iu a day. Went to docter have swollen lymph node in my arm pit. he wants me to go get a ultra sound done. Does the Growth Hormone affect the lymph node? Thanks a lot

  • Dr. Garcia, My husband was just prescribed (by you guys) HGH and Testosterone. He has been taking if for 3 days. He felt that his heart was beating at a pace more rapid than normal and his ears seem to be ringing. We checked his pulse/BP and everything was fine. Could it be all in his head? Are these symptoms something one would feel with this therapy?

Answer:  very uncommon from those two things. Thyroid can at times do it if the dose is too high to begin with, I suggest just to be safe that he stop them both and wait 2-3 days and then re-start them at half the dose for one week and then see, if no problems then increase to the prescribed dose agian. JG 5.19.07

  • Thanks for the info. So is it common to even go lower than 1 IU/day? Thanks again.

Answer:  in women I rarely go below that. JG 5.14.07

  • Hello again I just posted the last question, I am in 1 unit not 1ml. Thanks again

Answer:  OK, that is better, that is a reasonable dose but it ultimately depends on what your level was to start and then you need to get it checked when you are on the 1 IU to see. JG 5.14.07

  • Hi Dr. Garcia, I am a 32 year old woman who is currently on HGH. I am taking 1ml a day. Is this too much? What is the normal dosage for a woman?

  • I used Scalpmed for approximately 2 mths (May- June `06)- saw wonderful results - much sooner than I expected. Unfortunately, all the new growth fell out. I was under tremendous stress. Historically, my hair has always responded negatively to extreme stress. Since that time - I have used the product very sporatically. Lately, my hair has shed a lot. My hair line is receding more. THe sides and top (towards the forehead) are thinner than ever. Also, I think I have serboriac dermatis. Can this also cause hair loss? I shampoo my hair every 4 days with T-Gel (or Sulful 8 shampoo) and I oil my scalp twice daily with Sulfur 8 (Medicated anit-dandrul hair & scalp conditioner). This stops the itch and dandruff buildup. I began wearing a wig tis week. I am darker complexioned -AfAm. I have darker areas at my hairline - forehead and sides. Prior to the increased shampooing and applying oil to scalp twice daily - I was experiencing significant itching. My scalp is extremely dry (white patches on my scalp). I discontinued usage of scalpmed completely when I began this regiment. I would like to resume usage. What do you recommend? Sorry about the lengthy question. Thanks for your help - Linda

Answer:  stress and sebhorheic dermatitis can both cause hair loss and the effects from ScalpMed stop and that hair falls out when you stop using the product. I think you should see a dermatologist to get good therapy and control over the scalp problem and once that is cured you can restart the ScalpMed. I would avoid the ScalpMed until the scalp is better to avoid any potential irritation. Best of luck. JG 1.27.07

  • Dr. Garcia, I am a 40 year old male and am currently on bio-identical testosterone and thyroid. My recent blood panels indicated a sub optimal level of Growth Hormone. My budget will not allow for the standard HGH protocol. Do you know if it is ever possible to do a sort of HGH light program? i.e., reduce the amount injected or cycle on and off so as to lower costs. Just wondering if there is a way to have some of the benefits at a lower cost. Any lower cost HGH options on the horizon??? Thanks for your thoughts...

Answer:  no hopes yet of lower prices although that varies, some doctors who sell it directly over-charge, you can get a prescription from them and get it on-line maybe, I think half the dose is better than none. JG 12.10.06

  • Reading about your Nutrition article on HGH, I wondered what your take is on GHB as a nutritional supplement? Obviously it`s a moot point until they reverse the ridiculous decision of demonizing and scheduling as Class I this truly beneficial substance, but I wondered if it`s ability to raise growth hormone naturally would make it an excellent anti-aging supplement?

Answer:  unfortuantely it is illegal to sell GHB so it does not matter. I do feel that when available it did help the person secrete a little more growth hormone on their own though and helped improve sleep quality so I feel it was a good tool for age management. JG 12.10.06

When they performed an ultrasound about the same time period, I had a 50 x 38 mm cyst on my left ovary. Could this big cyst be causing the sudden change in my testosterone level? What could be the cause of such sudden change?

Answer:  Estratest is bio-identical but taking it orally has some increased problems, like lowering effective thyroid hormones and also liver metabolism. I always recommend a transdermal application of the hormones to avoid the liver effects, it is avaialble in compounding pharmacies and I also suggest getting blood levels to determine and monitor the dose, not just blind dosing. If you look at www.worldhelath.org, the have a listing of antiaging doctors that do HGH therpay on patients. Due to legal issues, I can only treat patients that I have seen in person at least once. Once I have seen them, then almost all of the rest can be done long distance. Best of luck. JG 2.27.05

I have not given myself intramuscular injections before - is there any protocol for doing this, apart from the obvious ones of making sure the solution is free of air bubbles and the injecting apparatus is clean?

Answer:  You should inject into the upper outer quadrant of the buttock so you would avoid the sciatic nerve. It is always a good idea to pull back on the plunger after insertion to make sure you are not in a vein. Be careful. JG 2.7.05

  • I am a 35 year old male. My sex drive has decreased, I have gained weight, and can't seem to get the muscle mass I used to get. Is HGH something I should think about? I know it is costly but is it wor

Answer:  Certainly HGH could help, but it could be that you are deficient in thyroid and testosterone also, so a full blood test should be done and then a private consultation can lead us into a more direct approach for your individual needs. JG 10.13.04

  • I am a 38 year old type one diabetic female and am considering hgh. Would you discourage hgh use for a type one diabetic or should I go through the usual tests to see if it is right for me? CQ 08/24/2004

Answer:  the only problem is initially your insulin demands may increase, but in most cases, after a few weeks, it comes back down and as you lose body fat and increase muscle mass, many patients insulin requirements go down. Certainly testing will give us the appropriate direction. JG 8.25.04

  • Hi Dr Garcia..how do they make these bioidentical hormones? I know they're not supposed to be chemically made as most HRTs and that's what I definitely want. Paulette

Answer:  Bio-identical hormones means just that. They are exact replicas of our hormones. They are made in a laboratory, but are exact copies of what we make, the same we they make copies of human insulin for diabetics. Non-Bio-identical hormones are unfortunately what is commonly used. These are drugs like Premarin which is horse urine hormones, or synthetic similar to natural hormones. See, bio-identical hormones cannot be patented, so drug companies cannot make big profits. So, what they do is take the natural product and alter it a little, so they can get a patent and no one can copy it for years. The problem with these similar hormones is that the body may or may not know how to metabolize them, so they can be built up in the body, causing long term problems. Identical hormones are better because the body knows exactly what to to do with them and how to get rid of them, so they do not build up in the body. I only use bio-identical hormones. JG 4.21.04

  • Hello Dr. Garcia....I have been reading a book on hormone replacement therapy..do you advocate using natural bioidential hormone replacement therapy? They suggest a blood test to determine your hormone level that needs to be replaced. This is for treatment of both male and female menopausal systems. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards..trg 4/1/04

Answer:  The only hormones we use are bio-identical hormones. We do both saliva and blood tests depending on what we are evaluating and then prescribe the hormones depending on those results. We then repeat the tests in a period of time to monitor the patient and make sure safe and effeective levels are achieved. We treat both men and women for diminished hormone levels. JG 4.1.04

  • Dr Garcia Are you familiar with the theory of treatment of Multiple Sclerosis with HGH (as presented by Palms Springs Life Extension Institute) and what is your opinion or experience with this? Than

Answer:  I think that a monitored program of HGH replacement for MS patients is certainly a very reasonable thing. I personally have patients with MS who I treat with HGH with improvements. Usually, those patients though have more hormones than HGH alone which are deficient. This does not mean that they should stop their other therapies though. JG 4.2.04
