               WOMEN - MEN

One of the most common reasons for which we see a woman at Ageless Forever is to help her to decide if estrogen/progesterone replacement (HRT) is right for her and if it is, when it should be started and in what form it should be taken. Media reports regarding the dangers of HRT have fueled anxiety and concern. Many doctors are refusing to start HRT on women experiencing the symptoms of menopause, and even worse, many women are being pulled off of it, even though they have been doing so well on it for years, based on the generalization of a study of women using Premarin and Provera…i.e. Synthetic hormones.

Researchers have long held that there are significant differences between hormones that are natural to humans (bio-identical) and synthetic (including animal) preparations. Side chains are added to a natural substance to create a synthetic product that can be patented and mass produced by the manufacturer. These side chains are structural differences that may be responsible for the side effects that are experienced when NON bio-identical hormones are used for replacement therapy. We will prescribe ONLY Bio-Identical estrogen and progesterone at Ageless Forever, which we have specially compounded to fit the individual patient needs.

We also check the testosterone levels of women. This free testosterone level is most important, and in a woman with intact ovaries, restoring DHEAS to youthful levels often will adequately restore the testosterone levels. If not, we will then add Bio-Identical testosterone to a woman’s Bio-Identical Estrogen Replacement cream which will always bring it right into the desired range. In a woman who has had her ovaries surgically removed, it is usually necessary to start directly with Bio-Identical testosterone replacement. The importance of replacing testosterone in these women is underscored by the fact that even with Bio-Identical Estrogen Replacement Therapy; they often will continue to be osteoporotic. This is another proof of the principle that when one replaces all the hormones that decline with age, many of the diseases of aging can be avoided. TOP

               MEN - WOMEN

Today’s modern lifestyle of high stress levels and poor nutrition habits, lack of regular exercise combined with an increased life expectancy have a significant affect on the male body. Our hormones can become imbalanced over time because hormone-producing glands are being required to work harder and longer. Men need to measure their testosterone levels as well as many other vital hormones such as thyroid, human growth hormone and estrogen

The imbalance of even one hormone causes imbalance in other hormones and can have a declining domino effect leading to disease, aging, degeneration and breakdowns. Andropause is most commonly regarded as a subtle and gradual onset and very slow progression of symptoms. Not all men show andropause symptoms as they age and not all men show a significant decrease in adrogens as they age. However, men commonly experience a combination of symptoms rather than experiencing all of the symptoms of andropause.

These symptoms can include the following:

     • Mood Changes - This can also be associated with decreases in intellectual activity, fatigue, depression, loss of enthusiasm for        daily life, anger and irritability.

     • A decrease in lean body mass, along with decreases in muscle mass, strength and endurance.

     • Diminished sexual desire, function and/or sensitivity and erectile quality. A decrease in nocturnal erections is a significant sign        of decreased androgens.

     • A decrease in body hair.

     • A decrease in bone density resulting in osteoporosis. Osteoporosis can often lead to increased incidence of bone fractures and        breaks.

     • An increase in fat surrounding the internal organs, weight gain and gynecomastia.

We utilize a very simple and very effective screening questionnaire, called the ADAM Questionnaire, which assists the doctor in diagnosing those men who suffer from andropause. However, not all men who screen positively for these symptoms have andropause. The symptoms may be the result of other causes so that a positive diagnosis can only be made with appropriate blood testing. TOP
