Question: Dr, In regards to the CoolSculpting procedure, if the fat cells are frozen and eventually killed. What are the future repercussion to the general health. Does it act like a radiation, are other organs affected by the freezing temperatures? Thanks. -Marcia Answer: When the fat cells freeze during the CoolSculpting procedure, they undergo a process called apoptosis (programmed cell death). This is a natural process. Any cell that freezes undergoes the same process. This technology is designed to target just the fat cells. The skin, blood vessels, nerves, muscle and underlying organs are not affected. The fat that is liberated from the dead cell is used as a fuel by the body. This is evidenced by post procedure studies that proved cholesterol levels are not raised. There is no radiation involved in the process. The fat bulge of concern is pulled in between two cooling plates with suction. These cooling plates are designed to maintain a temperature cold enough to just freeze the adipoise tissue (fat cells) and not damage the other tissue. If they get too cold the machine will turn off, as a safety precaution. The CoolSculpting device is FDA approved for the treatment and was developed by Harvard University Scientist. It has proven to be very safe and there have been no long term complications. Hopefully this answers your question.

Question: I believe I am having symptoms of low testosterone. I asked my doctor about it and she dismissed it and said I am too young to have low testosterone. I was wondering what the process was, and how much a consultation would be. Thank you! -Mark Answer: Hello Mark, First off I would like to know just how old you are. Second, there is no age restriction on low testosterone. There are medical conditions that may go unnoticed for years that cause low T. Injuries to the head causing concussion or loss of consciousness can also be related to low T. The most important aspect is what symptoms are you having and do they point towards low T or another issue all together? We correlate your symptoms and your blood work to determine what condition(s) you may have. We have many different ways of treating a low T condition outside of just simply starting testosterone therapy. Please feel free to call our office and one of our Patient Care Coordinators will be happy to answer your questions concerning our procedure and cost. (702)838-1994. Question: Hi Dr Pierce, I am a Canadian male, who's very interested in starting hgh therapy. I was wondering if you take Canadian patients? And how one would go about getting treatment? Or if you were aware of any MD,s in Canada, who specialize in this area? -Paul Answer: Yes I take patients from around the world as long as they can come to my office and physically see me. I'm not sure how the laws are in Canada for the dispensing of hGH, so I can not speak to that point. To get a prescription for hGH one has to first be determined to have a growth hormone deficiency or a wasting syndrome (such as that typically seen in AIDS patients). This is generally determined by a history/physical and laboratory tests. I am not aware of any physicians in Canada that do this type of medicine. Dr. Pierce On May 19, 2011 TOP
Question: Testosterone Pellet Therapy: Do you currently work with Testosterone Pellet Therapy? If so, do you find it to be the most beneficial delivery form of testosterone therapy. Thank you. I look forward to your response and hopefully being a patient. -John Answer: Yes, we do testosterone pellet therapy. It is my preferred method for many reasons. First it gives a more natural delivery of testosterone over a 3-5 month period of time. It is also less likely to have side effects of too much conversion to estradiol or dihydrotestosterone. We have not had much of a problem with infection, however we have had a few patients bodies reject 1 or 2 pellets. This usually occurs as a result of the pellet being placed too close to the incision site. We have made some adjustments to our procedure and have almost eliminated that complication.
Hope that answers your question sufficiently. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call our office and discuss it with one of our patient care coordinators. Dr. Pierce On May 19, 2011 TOP
Question: How does hgh work for fat loss, is it because carbs will not be stored as fat ? Is it advisable not to eat for at least two hours before injecting at bedtime ? When a woman is estrogen dominant, is progesterone supplementation sufficient for skin benefits. Is it trough too much estrogen in ratio to progesterone makes woman fat ? -Martine Answer: Human growth hormone has been shown clinically to improve lean body mass by increasing lean muscle and decreasing body fat. I am not sure of the exact mechanism that occurs to encourage the body to drop the fat. Studies show this effect is more prevalent in men though. You should not eat carbohydrates before injecting growth hormone in general. Because hGH is a night time hormone, it should be used at night, and if you're concerned about fat loss you shouldn't be eating before bed anyway. Yes too much estrogen can add to the body fat of humans. Progesterone helps to balance the estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance is too much estrogen and not enough progesterone, in simple terms. Dr. Pierce On December 14, 2010 TOP health for men, health men, men and health Question: I'm a bodybuilder, and i would like to go further in Size i have been to other Dr's and would like to work with a Dr that will help me get to where i would like to be as in size keeping me healthy as well. Can you help me? I am in Reno and would be available in Las Vegas. Joe Answer: I do have many bodybuilder patients. However, I do not prescribe them testosterone generally as they are on their own program. Meaning they are taking way too much of way too many things that are not medically indicated. I watch their blood work and try to keep their liver and kidney functions healthy with supplementation. I also make sure they are not converting to too much estrogen. When they come off I help them with Post Cycle therapy to get them functioning back to normal as quickly as possible. If that sounds like something along the lines of what you are looking for then please come in for a consultation. If, however you are looking for a physician to write you for anabolic steroids for the purpose of your bodybuilding endeavors, I suggest you look elsewhere. I hope that answered your question sufficiently. Please feel free to contact any member of our office staff. Dr. Pierce On November 8, 2010 TOP Question: Doctor Pierce, I need huge help!!! I don't know what is wrong with me. I am 25 and have a major case of erectile dysfunction and I guess low libido. What happened was I took a steroid about two years ago for about 2 weeks and then stopped cold turkey without doing PCT (Post Cycle Therapy). I didn't know what I was doing and the "cycle" was suppose to be for 4 weeks but I stopped after 2 week thinking I didn't want to do any damage. (I had no idea what I was doing!!) So for the past year and a half about I have been dealing with this and have good days and bad. I used to be an animal and could have sex/masturbate 4 plus times a day. Now if I go and try masturbation I can't whatsoever no matter what I try! I have had some success with cialis and herbs, however, I have good days and bad days with these. I find certain herbs such as! Yohimbie, etc that help for a day or so and then thy don't work. I seemed to be fine about a month after I stopped and then I probably noticed that I wasn't getting morning erections about 4 or 5 months after. I have seen multiple Urologists and Endocrinologist and they all tell me I am normal...but I can assure you I know my body and something is seriously wrong! I was told only anti-aging doctor could help and found your website. I have had my testosterone checked 3 times and total testosterone always comes back around 550... they tell me everything else is normal as well. I am seriously begging for your help!! I live in Salt Lake and I will travel to Las Vegas if I have to.... What should I do? Thank you! Dustin Answer: I am sure we can help you. It is odd that one would have any side effects that last this long after only 2 weeks of anabolic steroid use. I don't think the 2 are related, however, you are having symptoms of hypogonadism and may need treatment for a period of time. Your doctors were correct in that your levels are within "normal" range, however they are not in optimal range. Optimal levels means that your levels are such that you are not having the symptoms that you currently are having. Please feel free to contact any member of our office staff. Dr. Pierce On August 24, 2010 TOP young man, health and fitness, health & fitness Question: Is the secretagogue you mentioned one of the OTC HGH sprays or amino acid-based supplements?. Can you tell me what is causing thaT? i had a blood work done and my dr couldn't find anything wrong with me. I am so depressed with this condition. PLEASE can you light me up on that thank you. My calves and ankles are skinny in comparison of the rest of my body. Why is that! i would love to gain weight on them or to round them out so to speak. Is there anything i should do. i could never wear shorts, bathing suits, dresses or capri's. Any cream to rub on my legs, or probably some types of exercises ( not too tiring ) or maybe would you recommend a special dr who specialize in this type problem ? Again my upper legs are fine. it's only from my knees down. I would appreciate any advice you can give me Thank you so much Doctor May god bless you and your family Sincerely Marie Answer: Unfortunately your issue is all too common. Dr. Pierce On May 18, 2010 TOP estrogen, estradiol, hrt, progesterone level, progesterone levels, hcg levels Question: Thank you for the quick response. Do you ever prescribe Genotropin if there is a growth hormone deficiency? I ask because my wife works for Pfizer and I could receive Genotropin at no cost. Kevin Answer: I prescribe hGH when indicated. I do not care where it is produced. hGH is hGH no matter the manufacturer. All the same 191 amino acid sequence. So theoretically you can take your prescription and fill it anywhere and request any brand you want. I've found Genotropin to be very expensive, and therefore, I do not recommend it to my patients for that reason alone. Please feel free to contact any member of our office staff. Dr. Pierce On Apr 25, 2010 Question: Hi Dr. Pierce, Do you accept insurance and do you prescribe Genotropin? Kevin Answer: We do not accept insurance as insurance carriers consider the type of medicine we practice "elective". Just as they consider cosmetic surgery elective. We only prescribe hGH to patients that have documented growth hormone deficiency. Yours in health and wellness,Dr. Pierce On Apr 10, 2010 TOP Question: Thank you ahead of time for your answers. I am a male 64 1/2 340lbs work full time as a truck driver (500 mi. daily) I have type 2 diabetic. on blood thinner for previous clots and blood pressure issues I have noticed over the last 18 to 24 mo. a lack of energy, strength and generally just "beat" most of the time ... I'm not ready to give up yet! I am off weekends and work 6 am to 4 or 5 pm mon. thru fri. Oh yes I have a new lady (younger) and want to keep up with her!!! Got a Plan? ? Could some of this be covered by my insurance? Dave Answer: I believe we could help your overall health and wellness, along with improving your libido and energy levels. Unfortunately we do not accept insurance, as they generally do not cover our services. I would recommend we look at an aggressive weight loss program as well as hormone balancing as needed. Please feel free to contact any member of our office staff. Dr. Pierce On Apr 10, 2010 Question: Dr. Pierce, I would like to know if I would be a candidate for the HGH therapy. I am a 42 yo female. In August of last year I had a full hysterectomy, since then I've gained 20 lbs, have severe night sweats and hot flashes, I'm constantly tired and my mental clarity is poor. I just want to feel better and lose the extra weight. J.R. Answer: Your hysterectomy has put you into menopause. Your symptoms appear to be more from menopause, then from a growth hormone deficiency. Balancing your female hormones may be all you need. We will check all your hormone levels to include growth hormone, estrogen, testosterone, thyroid and an extensive health panel. If there are deficiencies they will be addressed. Please feel free to contact any member of our office staff. IS this simply pre-mature menopause or ?? what can you do to help ? thanks Kim Answer: It sounds like perimenopause to me. We would need some baseline lab work to get started. Question: 54 yo male in good shape looking to improve quality of life in general, but specifically training, reduced body fat, and dealing with some nagging injuries that have been slow to heal. What do I need to do to get a blood work up at quest that would show my current hormone levels? What is your cost for administering testosterone enhancements? -Berryl Answer: If you would like to have a blood work up done at Quest Laboratories and you live locally, you just need to call our office and make an appointment to come in for to have your blood drawn. (702-838-1994 Southwest office or 702-222-1994 Northwest office). TOP If you do not live locally we can contact a Quest draw station near you and fax them a requisition. The cost of this lab work depends on whether or not you have insurance. We can discuss this further when you contact the office. As for the cost involved for the consultation, the initial consultation fee is $499 which includes a one hour initial consultation with Dr. Pierce and one follow-up visit. All additional follow-up visits are $80. Any medications and supplements you may need are at an additional fee depending on the type and quantity. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact any member of our office staff. Dr. Pierce 12/17/2009 Question: I took the prohormone SPAWN and 60 days later i took rage t19 for 60 days straight. It seems like I don't have as much sex drive in the two weeks post cycle. What are the implications to taking those supplements? thanks Sean Answer: Both supplements have been banned, to the best of my knowledge, for having actual steroids in them. Even if this is not the case, and they actually increased your testosterone level naturally, you are going through a post cycle crash. You should see your doctor for post cycle therapy (if they know how to do it). This will get you back to normal the quickest. Otherwise it could take up to 6 months to fully recover. As I have a sleeping problem, I need a high dose of progesterone. My level of progesterone is 14. I take a capsule daily without a break along with estrogen and testosterone. Is there any danger with such a reading of progesterone? Answer: I generally recommend progesterone to be used in a cyclic fashion. Usually days 12-24 of the menstrual cycle. If not menstruating any longer, then days 12-24 of the calendar month. John J. Pierce, D.O. 9/14/2009 Question: I've been doing allot of research on bio-identical hormones. I had a hysterectomy 13 years ago -still have my ovaries. Have had allot of testing/misc things going on for the past 3 years which I've attributed to hormones but no one would test for. Feel terrible. Finally got my doctor to test them 2 months ago - any guess what - I was right - in menopause!!! She wanted to put me on Estriodiol - which I'm semi in favor of. I've found a compounding pharmacy to work with. One of your patients told me to contact you because no one in this area (OH) is very familiar with bio-identical hormones. What should be my next step? I had a high IGF of 230 but is now normal . But my GH is low. Would I be a candidate for Growth hormone? Is replacement a natural substance or bio-identical? It has taken me 8 months to get Natural Thyroid and I had to get it from Canada. I can't imagine how long it is going to take to get my growth hormone figured out. Answer: We would have to check your levels, but it sounds like you would be a candidate for hGH replacement. Replacement therapy is with human Growth Hormone. hGH is exactly the same no matter the source. It has to be 191 amino acids in a particular sequence, otherwise it is not hGH. Since you have no pituitary gland, we can not try to stimulate your own production of hGH, as that would be futile. We can handle all of your hormone balancing needs. I am controlling my diet , but am having a lot of trouble with constipation and am worried about tearing myself inside. It has been 4 months since the birth. I could only breastfeed for 5 weeks and my stomach is still shaped in a round protrusion. How long does it take to shrink back, what exercises can I do and what products can I use for fat burning to compliment my workouts that actually work. Thank you Answer: It may take a while for the muscle to heal from the surgery, I think you should do low level cardio, like walking, and continue a healthy diet. If you are breast feeding, I think you should stay away from any type of stimulant, as this can affect your baby.
